noddy

Noddy, first written and created by Enid Blyton in 1949, is the little wooden boy with the jingly blue hat and nodding head, and is one of the most beloved children’s characters of the modern era. Noddy is probably now best known to young audiences for the TV series, Make Way For Noddy. The fun and humorous stories help children to learn social values and simple life lessons.  Noddy started life with a little red and yellow car. Now Noddy has a helicopter, submarine, hovercraft, roller boots – and even a monster truck.

60The kiddies’ favourite launched by Enid Blyton in 1949 has been given a high-tech TV makeover to mark his 60th birthday. Children’s favourite Noddy will venture into new global markets to celebrate his 60th birthday, parent company Chorion has said. It wants to take the character, created by Enid Blyton in 1949, to Spain and Canada for the first time as part of its anniversary plans.

Noddy will celebrate his anniversary this Christmas, having already enjoyed the successful launch of a new 52-part television series. Chorion launched the series called ‘Noddy In Toyland’. This new series brings Noddy and his Toyland friends to life in a larger, fresh and energetic setting and will capture the hearts and minds of pre-school children for many years to come.

A book marking Noddy’s birthday will also be released.Written by Enid Blyton’s granddaughter Sophie Smallwood, the book will be drawn by Robert Tyndall, who has illustrated Noddy books since 1953.
